e.l.f beauty clutch and plumping lip gloss trio

Hi, everybody! It's New Year's eve tonight and it's only proper that I make a post as sparkly and glamorous as the New Year! Time to get festive in my blog and talk about these holiday gift sets from e.l.f.!

A few days ago, a package from my relatives abroad arrived and in it were these beautiful beautiful makeup palette and lip gloss trio from e.l.f.! They came in the cutest glittery box because they're part of e.l.f.'s holiday edition gift sets. The cuter the packaging, the more I need to have it! Haha

This is the beauty clutch. It looks exactly like a clutch, doesn't it?! I've actually heard of this palette before and  have seen pictures of it online. I thought it was made of soft leather but really, it's made out of sturdy matte plastic.

Snapshots from today. My baby boy is now 1 year old! Happy Birthday, Justin Biboy! Thank you for making our whole lives happier!

James Cooper Compact Cream Foundation

I've been doing makeup for a lot of people lately so I just needed to stock up on the foundation/base department. I noticed my foundation color selection in my makeup kit is very poor. I only had colors fit for light skin tones. I also needed a really dark foundation to use for contour.

James Cooper Compact Cream Foundation is a current favorite among beauty bloggers and YouTube gurus in the Philippines and after reading reviews of it online, I knew I just had to give it a try. Positive reviews stated that this foundation gives full coverage and contains no SPF making it suitable for photo shoots. Exactly what I was looking for! Let's see if this product is worth the rave.

The compact foundation comes in a sleek back box. For some reason, the designs of the boxes of these two are different although they were manufactured on the same date. I wasn't able to ask the sales assistant because I was in a hurry when I purchased these and didn't notice until I had a good look at them at home. I actually looked for this in 2 malls and one James Cooper Salon before I got a hold of it. It's available in your local SM department store. We were just experiencing color coding that day so I had to look for it in places near my house.

Majolica Majorca Perfect Automatic Liner BK999

My last liquid eyeliner didn't quite live up to my expectations. It wasn't waterproof and it also smudged on my oily eyelids. After that horrible experience with that particular liquid eyeliner, I stopped using any liners on my eyes and told myself that the next liquid liner I am going to buy would really be good enough for me. It was quite a while before I got myself a new one.

As I was being assisted by a Majolica Majorca lady at my local department store (I was going to buy a powder foundation, an eyebrow thing, and a mascara), she let me try their Perfect Automatic Liner, which, not long ago, received a recognition award from Cosmo Beauty Awards. The color she tried on me was brownish since black eyeliner can sometimes be a little too severe especially on the eyes of a young girl like me. I didn't buy it though because I like to read reviews first before I purchase any product.

A few weeks later, I gave in because I already tried their products and I found their performance really impressive and the award given by Cosmo made it even more tempting to buy! I got the blackest one because I didn't see the brownish one on display and the lady wasn't there to assist me. Here are my thoughts on this product.

The thing with buying cosmetics that are not sealed is that you cannot be so sure that the product you are getting is fresh and no one else has tried/ opened it before. You don't have to worry about that with this eyeliner because it comes in a sealed package like this.

There was no instruction on how to use this liner, and if there was I never would have understood because it's written in Japanese. I assumed I were to remove the pink seals. Yup, that was the right thing to do. Once you remove the pink band near the cap, there will be a gap and you just have to push the cap and the body together until that gap is closed.

Life lately

1. New Make Up

2. Cute Post-It Flags

3. My Afternoon Snack

4. The best cake ever

1. Some recently acquired make up. Expect reviews in the future. 2. I came across these cute Post-it Flags at a local bazaar near my school. They were PHP 10 each so I stocked up on 'em. Hehehe. 3. I am high on chocolates right now because some of my relatives abroad came home for Christmas and they brought a lot. 4. Vhal gave me this Fresh Cream strawberry cake from the newly opened Tous Les jours branch at SM Southmall. He knew I wanted to try it so bad and I must say, it's one of the yummiest cakes I've tasted in my life!

PS: I've always wanted to do this. LOLOLOL. A little bit of photography on my blog! Although, I admit these have been retouched. Hehehe. I was going to make a review today but since it's Christmas, I decided to do something different. Happy Christmas everyone! x.

Bag Hunt

It's been a while. I'm finally back to school after being sick for so long. I won't say I missed all the work, but I got to graduate somehow, you know. I already skipped most of the lectures and some seat works so I definitely have a lot of catching up to do! On top of that, I have a major recitation on my law subject tomorrow. Actually, we have major recitation on that subject every meeting so I will definitely be called a lot tomorrow. My law professor said so himself a while ago. Oh, well.
Since school work has been keeping me from making decent reviews lately, I decided to update this blog of mine with a little something that doesn't require much of my time but still is informative and fun, for me, at least. Christmas is just around the corner and I have been keeping myself from going on any shopping spree lately because I want to save up for that special day! As a result of this shopping deprivation, I've made quite a lot of lists already on what I want to buy. I'll be bombarding this blog with wish lists in the following days. Isn't that fun?
I've been looking for the perfect school bag lately and so far, not so good. I'm tired of shoulder bags and tote bags. I've figured hand bags are more spacious for my books and papers, and they won't hurt my shoulders! Let me just share my inspiration for the hunt.

Miu Miu's Top Handles are so chic and youthful, don't you think? I don't know what you call this particular design but it's my favorite. I hope I miraculously pick up $1,495 from the ground so I could buy one, but until then, I just have to make do with something similar. Gold hardware, bow detail, shiny leather, and all.

I adore all three colors so I showed them. It would be lovely if I could get a hold of bags with the same colors. How about you? Which color do you think is the cutest?

Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus

Hey, everyone. This is just a quick review on my favorite mascara at the moment. Girls who are not familiar with me always ask whether I'm wearing falsies or not. I have naturally long lashes already and since I am one of those flaunt-what-you-got girls, I like to amp up the length and volume of my lashes by piling up on mascara! As much as I'd like to keep you girls guessing what my secret weapon is, I don't want to keep the awesomeness of this mascara all to myself. Ladies, let me introduce to you my favorite mascara, Majolica Majorca's Lash Expander Frame Plus!

Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Mineral Water

Hello, guys. Sorry for being MIA lately. I suffered from fever and wasn't able to go to school for almost 2 weeks. I have a lot of catching up to do! Since I'm feeling so much better now, I decided to do something new and made a review! This is my first ever review and I am very open to your comments and suggestions on how I can make this work. Let's get started.

I bought Etude House's Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Mineral Water because I was looking for a makeup remover that is not oily so I can immediately put makeup on after. For looks that will require a really strong eye and a whole lot of glitter, I need a cleansing item that will remove all the mess so I can move on to applying the rest of my makeup. It's also quite handy when it's night and I have to remove my makeup.

There's a new DIVA in Town ;)

Alabang Town Center that is! love diva, an Australian brand offering only the trendiest fashion accessories for girls, is now in the Philippines!

To celebrate the opening of its first store in our country, love diva organized a styling/blogging workshop for teens and fashion bloggers. Thanks to Ms. Sarah Tirona of Ms. Eggplant's Chronicles, I was able to get in to the event. She hosted the contest in which me and my schoolmate, Mica Torres, won.

The event was bloggers exclusive that day so attendees had a preview of the store and its products before the official opening, which is today!!! Let's have a look at the shop, shall we?

SuperSale Bazaar Lipstick Haul

At this point, I can honestly say I am ready to commit myself to a lipstick ban..

I mentioned in my last post that I will be doing a separate haul post for the Supersale Bazaar because I don't want to flood a lot of thoughts into one post. It also gave me time to try out some of the products I bought. But, before I start talking about these items, I'd like to share my preparation for the bazaar first. You can tell I'm loving the items because I talk too much. So, let me begin.

I get a little crazy when you put makeup and sale together. I end up giving in to the impulsive shopper inside me which is really an awful thing. It would have been quite easy to just set a budget, but what if I really spot something and want to buy it so bad? I didn't want to give up the chance of finding such a fabulous item and letting it go so, I turned to the following methods. I armed myself with basic knowledge of the products/ brands/ sellers that will be at the bazaar and made a tiny list of things I wanted to buy/ check out. I also went with someone I begged to keep me from being the shopaholic monster I am or gastadora as my mother would call it. His job involves leading me away from the makeup booths when I feel like I just had to get my hand on everything, slapping me back into reality when the impulsive shopper persona kicks in, although only figuratively since I doubt he will ever be able to slap me hehe, and helping me decide practically which ones to buy. Anyways, here is my original list:

My Supersale Bazaar Experience

My excitement over the SuperSale Bazaar at World Trade Center was pretty well expressed in my last blog post. I was able to go last day and sure enough, I had a really great time! Let's have a look at my little adventure.

*Excuse the lousy pictures. I don't have the sturdy hands of a photographer, and my camera is just a point-and-shoot, c'mon!

Sleek Makeup PH

Hi, girls! I scheduled this post last night so, right now I am probably rubbing elbows with your favorite beauty and fashion bloggers at the SuperSale Bazaar at World Trade Center! But honestly, I might just be running around in circles ogling at all the makeups and clothes I want to buy but won't. LOL. Hopefully, I am having a great time taste testing from food booths and taking pictures too.

So, last Friday night, Saab Magalona hosted a Sleek Makeup Giveaway in her blog and my friend and I joined in hopes of winning the gorgeous blushes and pout polishes to be given as prizes. We didn't get lucky though. Hehe. If you are familiar with the Chapman sisters' Makeup Tutorials on YouTube, you might have already heard about this brand. If not, let me introduce you to it:

Ms. Eggplant's Chronicles: Be DIVAlicious! FREE styling/blogging Workshop!

SuperSale Bazaar @ the World Trade Center!

Guess who's going to another bazaar? Me! Bwahaha. There will be a SuperSale bazaar at the World Trade Center on November 4-6. This is going to be huge, I am really excited! I've already made a list of all the things I am going to look for in there so, wish me luck!

The entrance ticket costs 100 PHP, but I got mine for free! If you're planning to visit, please remember me and not make pakyaw/ hoard all the items, thank you! I will be going on November 5. I hope I could also spot some local stars there. Hehe. See you there, my darlings!

Benefit Cosmetics Wish!!!

So, it's true! Benefit Cosmetics is coming to town this December! What a merry Christmas it will be for all makeup lovers like me! I've been eyeing this brand for so long only God knows when, so imagine my delight when I discovered this wonderful news a few weeks ago. I am a sucker for cute packaging and this is one of those makeup lines I just simply cannot resist, plus the quality is amazing! I am hoping though that the products won't be priced far from their US prices. There is import price injustice here in the Philippines, I tell you! *Hello, M·A·C, do you hear me?!

To celebrate this glorious discovery, let me just share what's on my Benefit wish list. I want to try these items, and I will probably end up loving them once I do because I spent so many nights, and days, researching about these products and all have had positive reviews! I might go a little overboard with my wish list, but I have just been eyeing this brand for so long, my list piled up! I was already planning on getting some of these online, but  that would be pretty risky if I'm going to get from local sellers. You need to find reliable ones to avoid getting fakes. Fake cosmetics can damage your skin because you don't know what they're made of! So, going back to my wish list, let me start off with...

Christmas Bazaar Haul + Barry M Vibrant Pink

Welcome back! I posted a Christmas bazaar baby haul a few days ago. (You can check it out here.) I said I might post pictures of the bazaar when I visit again. Here they are!

This is what the bazaar looks like. The place used to be Watsons. You will see it along Aguirre avenue and right across Jollibee and Tropical Hut.

Twirls Frozen Yogurt Shop

I discovered this dainty yogurt shop by accident when two of my classmates, whom I was with, were engaged in deep conversation and didn't really notice where we were headed. Meek as I am, I let them be and followed them without asking. Hehe. We found ourselves inside Casa Susana building, which I never bothered to enter before even though I see it everytime I go to Alabang Town Center. I don't know if they noticed this shop, but I definitely did! The moment I saw it I just knew I had to feature it in this blog. It's the cutest yogurt shop I've ever seen!

Top Ten Shoes Essential for Your Wardrobe

Hello! As promised, here's a break from all the beauty posts! I made a new blog section and that is "Fashion Talk." I have said this before, I am not a fashionista, but I do enjoy dressing up. I am not claiming to be a fashion guru or even a beauty expert by putting up this blog; In fact, I created this to share tips I learned from experience, from reading and from different beauty bloggers and fashion bloggers online. With that in mind, let's now move on to the Fashion Talk!

Picture this: You're already done picking out your clothes, hair and makeup for the day and you're down to the last step before heading out- putting on your shoes; however, you can't find a perfect pair to go with your outfit. That's one sign you're probably missing some basic items in your closet! I am now going to talk about ten shoes that I think are essential to every girl's wardrobe.

Christmas Bazaar Haul

Well, Hello! How was your weekend? I know it hasn't been a while since my last haul post (yesterday), and I promised I wouldn't be blogging about beauty and makeup alone, but I'm very excited to show my recent purchase from a Christmas Bazaar in BF Aguirre Avenue!

I wasn't able to take pictures of the bazaar, but I'll see if I could post some next week (There's a picture of the bazaar schedule below) because I'm planning to go again! I was a bit shy to ask for pictures last night, and frankly, there wasn't much to see, yet.

There was this one stall though. I think it's called Maier Fashion Shop. They sell clothes, accessories and imported cosmetics (Revlon, Victoria's Secret, Rimmel, Covergirl, Physician's Formula, L'oreal etc.) I didn't have any intention of buying, but I spotted these babies and well, I asked my momma if she could buy them for me. Hehe. Most of the time, I pay using my money from my allowance/ savings. Now is my semestral break so you could say I'm definitely broke. Whee! So, let's start with my mini haul! Mini Haul = Only two items! I love them. My sister bought a cardigan from the same shop too!

Etude House Haul

Hello! This is just a quick post on my latest haul from Etude House! Etude House is a total beauty solution shop known for its wide variety of products that come in super cute packaging! I just love Etude House! Not only are their products too cute to resist but they're also reasonably priced. I don't know about you but ever since this store opened in South Mall, there was never a time I was in that mall and didn't stop by this pink store! Sometimes I don't even buy stuff, I just like to look around and see what's new. It's so embarrassing because I think the beauty consultants are already familiar with me. Hahaha.

Etude House, I hope you'll be around forever and not pull out like Elianto did! If you do, I'm so going to cry!

FOTD: Jeweling Eyes

Hello, I am back with an FOTD! It's not really impressive. I was just trying out the Jeweling Eyes quad I bought from Majolica Majorca. My camera's flash was a bit harsh and washed out most of the color but I'll try better next time and provide more details of the look. Here it is!

I had to use my flash because it was dusk already when I finished this look and the faint sunlight wouldn't really be able to show all the colors. Hmm, thinking about it, this beauty blogging requires a lot of effort! I need to set up a lighting system somehow if I don't want to use flash anymore. Whew.

By the way, my hair is driving me crazy! I had a hard time taking a decent shot because my hair is just literally everywhere! It's naturally wavy at the back and curly in front. So, that's really weird but that's how my hair is and I got to deal with it! Haha. I'll find a way to style it somehow. :)

Products used:
Etude House Precious Mineral Sheer Glowing Skin BB Cream
Revlon PhotoReady Compact SPF25 in 150 Shell Coquillage
Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover Powder Foundation in OC20
Majolica Majorca Jeweling Eyes RD784
Majolica Majorca Perfect Automatic Liner in BK999
Revlon Beyond Natural Blush and Bronzer in Peach
Majolica Majorca Lash Expander (Black)
NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk
Majolica Majorca Brow Powder
Wet n' Wild MegaLast Lipstick 901B
In2It Lipstick in Pink Alarm

This is a look I would totally wear on an everyday basis. If you would too, then that's awesome! I think pink lips instantly perk up the whole face and once you find the perfect shade for you then you can just wear that and you're good to go!

On a semi-related note: I have only been blogging about things that are beauty related lately but I want this blog to be far from just a "beauty" blog. I want to add a lot of pizzazz to this blog by posting about fashion (although, I am not that much of a fashionista myself. I just like to dress up for special occasions. Hehe) and pretty much anything, really. I'll find something interesting to share here, somehow.

What is PAO?

Have you ever wondered why some beauty products have an open jar symbol printed on the back with symbols either 2M, 12M or 24M? Have you ever encountered this symbol? If not, let me show you a perfect example.

This symbol is what you call the "PaO" symbol or Period-after-Opening Symbol. It identifies the length of time a product remains useable after opening. The period is given as a number of months and marked with a letter "M" within the jar.

I used to think the little symbol tells you how much product is in the container but I couldn't seem to understand what "M" meant. Now I know and I thought I would share this information with all of you.

Most of us girls hang onto our products way too long (Yup, yup, I'm guilty!), but we must keep in mind that makeup and other beauty products can harbor bacteria after some time. To avoid future skin problems and avoid wastage, it's important to consume the product within its shelf life. However, if your beauty product doesn't have the PaO symbol in it, here is an estimate on the lifetime of most commonly used beauty products.

Oil-free foundation: 1 year
Cream or Compact foundation: 18 months
Concealer: 12-18 months
Powder: 2 years
Blush and bronzer: 2 years
Cream blush: 12-18 months
Powder eyeshadow: 2 years
Cream eyeshadow: 12-18 months
Eyeliner: 2 years
Liquid eyeliner: 3-6 months
Mascara: 3 months
Lipstick: 2 years
Lip liner: 2 years
Lip gloss: 18-24 months
Nail color: 1 year
Fragrance: 2-5 years

This is what most experts agree upon but if your makeup already smells rancid, throw it out. Trust me, the price of that eyeliner is not worth an eye infection.

Majolica Majorca Haul

So, hello. I am back with a makeup haul! First things first. What is a makeup haul? I was quite unfamiliar with the phrase at first but a little help from Google and I found out what it's about.
A "makeup haul" is a phrase commonly tossed around on social sharing sites such as blogs, vlogs and youtube. It is a way of updating readers or viewers on your makeup collection after you have made several purchases.

So, there. I personally like checking out haul posts because it's fun to know what everyone's been trying and see what I like. This post is like a baby makeup haul only because I'll only be featuring two products. Compared to other bloggers' makeup hauls, this is kind of embarrassing! LOL~ But anyways, these were all I needed to buy from there eh!

I bought Majolica Majorca Jeweling Eyes RD784 and Majolica Majorca Perfect Automatic Liner in BK999!

I asked the beauty consultant at SM Southmall which quad is perfect for everyday use and she suggested this one, RD784. They were also having a promo so I got this for 20% off.

I also bought this liquid eyeliner which received an award at Cosmo Beauty Awards 2011! I haven't worn a decent liner in months ever since I ran out of my Maybelline Impact Express Liner. I didn't want to repurchase because it isn't waterproof and it smudges easily on my oily eyelids! I like how Majolica's Lash Expander opens up my eyes but I need eyeliner to enhance the shape! I wanted to buy Maybelline's Gel Liner but I discovered it's made in China and somebody told me not to buy!

Majolica Majorca is Shiseido's sister company and they're both based in Japan. Although I couldn't read the ingredients because they're written in Japanese (there are certain ingredients in cosmetics that you should avoid), I still bought this because it's Majolica and I'm quite biased, I know! Haha. I hope they come up with new packaging in English!

That's all. Watch out for future reviews!

Birthday Wish + Blog Opening!

Hello and Welcome to my little blog! First of all, let me just say that it's my birthday today, (So greet me now on the comments below if you haven't yet! Haha), and I decided that the best day to launch this blog would also be today. Hehe. I've been on and off the blogging world for about 5 years now but, I promise I am going to keep this one. I am doing this because I love writing, not necessarily for work or under pressure, but as a hobby because I like to talk about beauty and makeup, fashion, food, etc., etc., etc and share it when I'm feeling talkative. :)

No,I have never actually established a blog for a particular category or thing like travel, cosmetics, food and such. I mostly write about how my day went. (Mostly because of laziness) I'd like to change that and actually blog about something with meat! Something that is worth sharing and my friends and random readers of this blog would actually gain new information from. I put my blog under the category fashion and beauty. Both of which I am very passionate about probably ever since I was born. Though sometimes, I fail to actually showcase it since I am such a lazy girl and I don't bother to dress up on most days. (You know what they say, there are no ugly girls, just lazy ones. Hehe) I am just really simple, believe me. :)

Okay enough of that lousy introduction. Forgive me, that's something I was never really good at. Now, let me just share what's I'm planning to buy for myself as a gift. I am thinking of getting these Etude house brushes!

Yes, all of them! The only problem is they should be bought individually and in most Etude House branches, some brushes have already run out! On the bright side, it actually gives me more time to look for good brushes. Personally, I think it doesn't matter what brand of makeup you're using as long as you have the proper tools for application. I am actually planning on making makeup tutorials and reviews which will all be compiled here. Ruby Woot is a makeup and beauty blog my friend, Daniella and I plan on opening sometime in the future. Just building up our kits so watch out for it!

So that's it, I hope my blog will be helpful to all girls out there! See you next time! :)

xx, Christina ♥
